Hope, a Junior at the University of Texas at Austin, interned with our team this Summer. She’s a journalism major, with a dual minor in media & entertainment industries and professional sales & business development. She is also stepping into the role of executive producer of one of UT’s television news broadcasts this fall! We asked Hope about her internship with NextLevel Thinking, and this is what she had to say:
What is one piece of advice you would give someone beginning as an intern (Whether at NLT or beyond)?
Be willing to jump right in and learn as you go! My internship at NLT was a great place to learn both hard and soft skills, as well as learn new things about myself.
What is the most valuable thing you learned or took away from your time as an NLT intern?
The most valuable thing I took away from my time as an NLT intern was learning how to conduct useful research and apply it. I performed research on Meta advertising and social media advertising best practices for one of NLT’s clients. Understanding how to summarize my findings and apply them to create a strategy plan moving forward is a highly useful skill that I can take with me throughout college and beyond.
What was your favorite thing about interning at NLT? Any fun memories to share?
My favorite thing about interning at NLT was being involved with relevant, hands-on work within the company. NLT also encourages interaction between interns and NLT’s clients which greatly stood out to me about this intern program. By presenting my work directly to a client, I was pushed outside of my comfort zone and strengthened my professional communication skills because of it.
A fun memory to share was working with Emily and Kyle at Panera Bread one day to brainstorm a social media advertising campaign. Emily and Kyle were incredible mentors during my internship at NLT, and I am grateful for all I have learned from them!
When asked what it is like working with Hope, this is what our team had to say:
“Hope was a joy to have on our team. During her internship, she brought immense value, consistently rising to the challenges we presented to her. Whether she had prior experience or was venturing into new territory, Hope tackled every task with enthusiasm and determination, ultimately providing us with some really good work! ” – Kyle Poerschke
“Hope’s time with us this summer was truly impactful. She brought fresh perspectives to our social media and advertising strategies for her assigned client, perfectly embodying our intern program’s philosophy of mutual growth and unexpected blessings. We’re grateful for her can-do attitude and the positive energy she brought our team.” – Eric Poerschke
“Hope came in with limited time during her summer break and was tasked with a large project on day one. She did not let any of it overwhelm her and took it head-on with confidence. Her thoroughness in research and strategizing a game plan resulted in an advertising campaign that we will use long after her internship is done.” – Emily Hemenway Hiley
